We invite you to join us for a time travel adventure to medieval Ireland.
This is an inaugural trip you won’t want to miss!

Prior to departure, we’ll make sure you have the resources needed to make this an enjoyable trip. We’ll provide assistance with booking your flights, securing trip insurance, getting your passport and other travel documents in order, deciding what to pack, and understanding the country you’re visiting. We want this to be the trip of a lifetime for all of our guests!

Are you interested in joining the William Marshal in Ireland tour, but have some questions about it? Below are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions. If you have additional questions that aren’t listed here, drop me a line.

Q: What are the tour dates?
A: The William Marshal in Ireland Tour will take place June 4 – 15, 2017. Go here for additional information.
Q: Where exactly in Ireland will we be going?
A: We will begin in Dublin, then drive down to New Ross, on to Waterford, followed by a visit to Kilkenny & Carlow.
Q: What types of accommodations will we enjoy?
A: We will lodge in 4- and 5-star accommodations in boutique hotels and manor homes!
Q: What room types are included in our accommodations?
A: Guests who select double occupancy will enjoy 2 Double or Queen beds (European standards), and single occupancy clients will enjoy 1 Queen or King bed. All rooms will include a large en-suite bathroom.
Q: Is breakfast included?
A: Yes! A Full Irish Breakfast is included in your accommodation. “Full Irish” = bacon, sausages, sautéed tomato, sautéed mushroom, eggs, white or black pudding, and toast. Artery clogging? Yup! Vegetarian options will be available.
Q: Will we be able to select our rooms?
A: Unfortunately, it’s not possible to pre-select your room. There are many factors that go into assigning rooms. Our hotels will assign rooms based on their availability at the time of arrival. Never fear, you’ll have an opportunity to share your room preferences during the application process, and I’ll do my best to accommodate those preferences. My goal is to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Q: Why is there a single supplement fee?
A: Single supplements are an industry standard because it’s less expensive for 2 people to share a room. A single room (one bed) costs the same as a shared room. For example, a single might cost $150 per night, but a twin room (2 beds) costs only $75 per person per night. A single supplement fee bridges that gap.
Q: What type of motor coach will be provided for our transportation?
A: We will enjoy a luxury motor coach for the entire trip.
Q: Will our motor coach have electrical outlets, air-conditioning, WIFI and a lavatory?
A: Yes, absolutely! You’ll be able to charge your smart phone or tablet, stay cool & collected, make your friends jealous by checking in on Facebook, and upload your travel pics to Instagram. Alas, the coach does not have a lavatory; however, there will be plenty of bathroom breaks along the way.
Q: Do you know where the Starbucks coffee shops are located?
A: You’ll find Starbucks in super populated cities like Dublin and Belfast, but you won’t find Starbucks in smaller towns. That’s the perfect opportunity to check out the local coffee scene!
Q: What’s your role in the company?
A: I’m your chief time traveler, tour director, and concierge. I will be your day-to-day contact who you will interact with at breakfast, on the coach, and at heritage stops. If you have any questions or concerns or special requests, please don’t heistate to let me know!
Q: Will there be local tour guides?
A: Yes, we have partnered with some of the most knowledgeable & charming local guides in New Ross, Waterford, and Kilkenny. Our guides will welcome us to their lovely towns, take us on walking tours, and orient us at different heritage sites.
Q: What’s the deal with the staff photographer?
A: Isn’t that a neat idea? When I travel sometimes I get so wrapped up in framing the perfect shot that I forget to appreciate what I’m seeing and actually BE in the moment. Bringing along a photographer will allow you to connect with each place we visit, meanwhile, our shutterbug will be busy snapping away!
Q: Are there age limits for who can participate in the tour?
A: Due to insurance and liability issues, guests 16-18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Q: Can I bring my spouse/significant other?
A: Spouses and significant others are invited to reserve the private room package.
Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: No, I’m afraid not.
Q: Do I have to be from the US to participate?
A: Absolutely not. William Marshal fans are global. You can be from anywhere!
Q: Do I have to speak English?
A: The entire tour will be conducted in English with a little Irish sprinkled here and there; therefore, you’ll need to speak English at a conversational level at least.
Q: How many guests will go on the tour?
A: Smaller groups facilitate lively discussion and great conversation. The ideal tour size is 16; however, I’m open to expanding the total to 20 if there’s interest. I’d like to travel with interesting people who’ll get something meaningful out of this experience as well as add to it. Essentially, I’m looking for cool folks who are open to making connections and enjoying new experiences.
Q: Will there be travel resources to assist clients?
A: Yes! Once you make your deposit, I’ll share a number of resources and checklists with you as well as host webinars to help you ramp up for the trip. You’ll also be added to the private Facebook group so that we can get to know one another.
Q: How much walking is involved?
A: You can expect a moderate amount of walking every day on this tour. That includes local walking tours, castle tours, and roaming around abbey ruins. Lunch and dinner locations may involve short walks to and from our hotel.
Q: Are the Irish Heritage sites safe to explore?
A: They are indeed. Some have uneven surfaces, cobblestones, and moss-covered stones, but most have plenty of handrails. The sites we plan to visit are quite safe; however, you may opt out of any activity if you feel it might be too difficult to navigate.
Q: What kind of accommodations will be made for travelers with mobility issues?
A: Good question. Irish heritage sites such as castles, abbeys, and ruins aren’t always wheelchair accessible. I’m making every effort to partner with hotels, restaurants, and coaches that have walkway ramps and elevators for those who need a little extra help getting around. Accessibility & mobility issues will be addressed during the daily briefings.
Q: Will you provide assistance with booking our airfare?
A: Yes, I’m happy to do so. I’ve partnered with a local Irish travel agent, Siobhan Callaghan at Traveler Counsellors, who is ready and willing to assist you with your travel needs. She can arrange air travel for individuals, BFFs, couples, and groups. Just let us know what you need!
Q: Can we extend our stay in Ireland and the UK?
A: You absolutely can. Siobhan Callaghan at Traveler Counsellors is more than happy to help you book add-on trips at the beginning or end of this tour. The possibilities are endless. You can explore other parts of Ireland and/or visit additional Marshal sites in Wales, England, and France. Just let me know your interests on the intake form.

Q: In what currency is the tour price be offered?
A: US Dollars.
Q: What is included in the price of the tour?
A: The tour price includes everything you need to enjoy the trip-of-a-lifetime: airport transfers, boutique accommodations, daily breakfast, luxury motor coach transportation, driver & tour guide, group dinners, entrance fees, and a whole lot more!
Q: What is NOT included in the cost of the tour?
A: Airfare, travel insurance, souvenirs, gratuities, optional excursions, personal items, and meals not specified in the tour itinerary.
Q: Must I pay in advance?
A: Yes, however you will have an opportunity to place a deposit, then pay the remaining balance in one payment or four equal installments.

Q: When are deposits due?
A: Deposits will be accepted until the tour is full.
Q: Will there be a waiting list?
A: Yes, when the tour reaches capacity, we will generate a waiting list.
Q: When will the final payment be due?
A: Final payments will be due by April 4, 2017.
Q: How do the installment payments work?
A: After you place your deposit, you will have the option to pay the remaining balance in full or in 4 equal payments. Installment payments will be due every 2 months from the date of your deposit. Installment payments will be due on the 5th day of every month. Payments will be paid through an ACH.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept personal checks, bank transfers, and all major credit cards.
Q: Can I receive a discount for paying the tour in advance?
A: At this time, we are not offering any discounts.
Q: I live in Ireland/Wales/UK, do I have to pay the same tour price?
A: Yes, however you’ll save money on lower exchange fees and on travel to Dublin. Lodging, transportation & activity expenses remain the same regardless of from where clients arrive.
